These found object fiber sculptures examines how gendered craft and domestic labor are placed within the categories of recreational, decorative and diminutive. The basic grid structure of mesh and plastics within found domestic artifacts acts as a scaffold for handwoven fiber interventions and embellishments. The accumulated skin of fabric blocks permeable surfaces, limits movement and disrupts intended function, playing with tension between soft and rigid materials and the handmade versus the manufactured.
